Day 92 – April 2, 2021
Scriptures: Deuteronomy 7-9, Proverbs 2
The Lord knows our hearts. He knows our anxious ways. He knows also our stubbornness. That resounds in both of our readings today.
The message of Deuteronomy and the message of Proverbs 2 come together here, “Thus you will walk in the ways of the just and keep to the paths of the righteous. For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it; but the wicked will be cut off from the land and the unfaithful will be torn from it.” (Proverbs 2:20-22)
It was a constant struggle for the Israelites to walk with the Lord and trust in Him. It remains a difficult thing for us as well. And Proverbs will outline for us insight and wisdom for navigating the struggles of life and keeping our hearts and minds fixed on God. For now, though, Deuteronomy 7-9 counsels us to eliminate all that would lead our hearts astray. Completely destroy idols and obey the commands of the Lord.
As we take steps towards the cross today, and the Resurrection Sunday, we are challenged to examine our lives and seek our Risen Savior.
