Day 269 – September 26, 2021 Scriptures: Jeremiah 1-2, Psalms 28, 1 Thessalonians 1 1 Thessalonians Bible Project “This is what the Lord says: “What fault did your ancestors find in me, that they strayed so far from me? They followed worthless idols and became worthless themselves.” (Jeremiah 2:5) “Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever.” (Psalm 28:9) “for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.” (1 Thessalonians 1:9–10) In Christ we are called from our old lives and into new life. We are called to set aside the worthless idols that have garnered our worship and turn towards God only. Paul is celebrating that the church in Thessalonica has turned from idols. What Jeremiah hoped for and preached is now present in the church. Let us heed the message of Jeremiah, and have the faith of the Thessalonians, turn from idols and worship the Lord. Jordan
