Week 23, Day 3
June 8, 2022 Ephesians 1 Blessed, blessed, blessed! That’s how Paul starts out his letter to the church in Ephesus. He uses the word Eulogetos – the Greek form of our word “Eulogy.” It is to pronounce a blessing, or speak well of something/someone. Three times in verse 3, it occurs, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.” Unlike other letters of Paul, this letter does not offer much by way of rebuke. Paul does not address a specific sin that is disrupting the church. Rather, seeks to bless us with a clearer understanding of our identity and purpose in Christ. We catch a glimpse of it here in the opening greeting, when Paul speaks of our identity in Christ and the vision for the church, Ephesians 1:22–23 “And he has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.” God’s great power is at work in the church, forming us, filling us and sending us out. This incomparable power is at work in you and your church family! We are Blessed, blessed and more blessed!
